Swimming the 800m freestyle at the European Masters Championships
My first Masters European Championships, my first time competing in an outdoor pool, and my first experience of waiting in a call room before a race — so many new experiences all in one!
Although, I didn’t manage a personal best this time, I came away having learned so much, gained valuable racing experience, and met some wonderful fellow swimmers.
A memorable milestone in my masters swimming journey and an event I’m grateful I have been able to take part in.

Three Peaks, One Big Achievement! ⛰️
After an early start in cool weather, we were lucky to have a dry day for our Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. Covering around 24 miles, it was test of stamina and perseverance but well worth every step. By the time we ascended the third peak, Ingleborough, the sun was shining, the perfect reward for a fantastic day out.
The challenge takes on three iconic peaks in the Yorkshire Dales National Park: Pen-y-Ghent (694m), Whernside (736m) and Ingleborough (723m), which we completed in 10 hours. Whernside is the highest peak in the Yorkshire Dales, with stunning views stretching towards the Ribblehead Viaduct and Morecambe Bay.
With incredible scenery, plenty of ups and downs, and a huge sense of achievement at the finish, it was a memorable adventure and another one ticked off the bucket list! 🥾⛰️
