British Masters Championships - Aberdeen
Racing in Aberdeen – what an incredible weekend, with plenty of firsts! 🏊
This was the furthest I've ever travelled to compete at the British Masters Championships, and it was also my first time racing on consecutive days.
I took on both the 1500m and 800m freestyle events. The 1500m didn't quite go to plan and I finished slower than I'd hoped. Looking back, I probably held back for too long because I didn't want to go out too hard and pay for it later. It's all part of the learning process and I'll take those lessons into my next race.
The following day, I lined up for the 800m and decided to give it everything. Although I was still outside the time I was aiming for, I couldn't have given any more. The sense of achievement and pure elation from simply being there, competing and pushing myself to my limits, was unforgettable.
One of the biggest highlights of the weekend was meeting some incredible people, including legends of the swimming world. Sharing the pool with such inspiring athletes was a privilege in itself.
Sometimes the biggest victories are having the courage to keep showing up, learning from setbacks and adapting your approach. It's about challenging yourself, learning, meeting amazing people, and enjoying every moment of the journey.
I'm already looking forward to the next opportunity to race. 💙🏊
The Role of Strength Training in Client programmes
Professional Development: Attending this webinar contributed towards my Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and provided a valuable reminder of the importance of setting SMART goals. It also reinforced the need to optimise, monitor, and measure client progress throughout both the planning and delivery stages to ensure interventions remain effective, purposeful, and outcome-focused.
