APPRAISE research study

I am one of the Co-Lead PPI’s in the APPRAISE research study and it was great to be back in Leeds with the APPRAISE research team and the other PPI’s (Patient and Public Involvement) for our 2025 face-to-face meeting.

This important research explores the short- and long-term impact of pelvic organ prolapse (POP), stress urinary incontinence (SUI), and mesh-related procedures on both patient experiences and surgical outcomes through a series of PREM (Patient Reported Experience Measure) and PROM (Patient Reported Outcome Measures) questionnaires.

As someone who underwent a mesh procedure for SUI at the age of 24 and as a consequence lived with chronic pain for sixteen years—pain that was repeatedly dismissed whenever I sought answers—I am especially passionate about ensuring this research captures what truly matters. It must go beyond clinical outcomes to define surgical success in terms of patient quality of life.

Womens’ Health Advocacy

I’m delighted to be partnering with Gill Castle, CEO of the charity Chameleon Buddies, to co-organise this fundraising event and speak about my journey 'A story of hope’ on behalf of The MASIC Foundation. This event is aimed at anyone looking for support and advice following birth injury and trauma and is free to attend.
